The Queensland Symphony Orchestra and comedian Marty Sheargold play the Redland Performing Arts Centre this weekend, while Jack Rodgers talks about his FISHO exhibition at Redland Art Gallery and an island band presents brass, wind and strings on Macleay Island.

QSO: Old Worlds, New Sounds
9 October 2026 | Redland Performing Arts Centre, Cleveland
Chief Conductor Umberto Clerici leads the Queensland Symphony Orchestra in a programme opening with a First Nations overture by Christopher Sainsbury, followed by Bruch’s Violin Concerto with soloist Catherina Lee and further orchestral works. Doors at 6pm, concert at 7pm.
Marty Sheargold: The Red Card Tour

Comedian Marty Sheargold brings his brand-new stand-up show to the RPAC Concert Hall at 7.30pm, drawing on a career in television and radio for an evening of live comedy.

Jack Rodgers draws on photographs of locals with their prized catches and family visits to the fishmonger to explore fishing culture, from tackle and trading to the history of Brisbane’s fish markets.

The SMBI Concert Band presents a free Seniors Month concert at 2.30pm featuring Phil Davis on trombone and a professional string trio performing the Mozart oboe quartet with Eve Newsome on oboe. Afternoon tea is included.
Redland Art Gallery at Cleveland is closed on Saturdays and The Mezz at RPAC opens on weekdays only, so check opening days before visiting.

The Island Storytellers Festival filled Lamb Island with author talks, songwriting and a poetry walk, alongside new exhibitions at the Old SchoolHouse Gallery and Redlands Coast Museum and a Redland City Big Band concert at Cleveland.

Our Communities Textile Treasures
2 – 4 October 2026 | Redlands Coast Museum, Cleveland
Handmade garments, embroidered linens and heirloom pieces loaned by local families tell stories of Redlands people and milestones in the museum’s new textiles exhibition. Museum entry is $15 for adults, and free for children under 14.
Redland City Big Band: Jazz, Swing and Latin Rhythms
4 October 2026 | Donald Simpson Community Centre, Cleveland
The Redland City Big Band plays an afternoon of jazz, swing and Latin numbers from 2pm, with the centre cafe open for refreshments. Tickets are $20 from the Donald Simpson Community Centre or by phoning 3821 1089.
