Three exhibitions and a weaving workshop are open across Cleveland, Capalaba and Thornlands this weekend, spanning painting, mixed media and Quandamooka craft.

Weaving Our Stories
19 September 2026 | Redlands IndigiScapes Centre and Cafe, Capalaba
Ngugi/Noonuccal woman April Cunningham leads an intimate traditional weaving workshop at IndigiScapes Native Botanic Gardens, guiding participants through yarning, connecting on Country, and weaving with natural materials including palm fronds. Participants create their own grass skirt; morning tea and a bush tucker plant to take home are included. Limited spots.

Babies and Toddlers: Textiles Exhibition
18 – 20 September 2026 | Redlands Coast Museum, Cleveland
This charming exhibition traces how babies and toddlers were cared for, dressed and celebrated across generations, featuring historic garments, accessories, treasured keepsakes and a beautifully restored baby pram from the museum’s collection.
NAIDOC 2026 Exhibition: Fifty Years of Deadly

Beginner's Crochet Class

FISHO by Jack Rodgers

Brisbane artist Jack Rodgers presents paintings and small sculptures celebrating fishing culture — from catching and selling fish to the history of Brisbane’s fishmongers and the State Fish Market at South Brisbane. The exhibition reflects the artist’s personal connections to place and community, inviting audiences to recognise themselves in the work.
We Are Gooniyandi: The Collectors Exhibition

An ongoing exhibition of original Girrwarli paintings and artefacts by First Nations Gooniyandi people from the Kurinyjarn community in the Kimberley, Western Australia, sharing traditional stories and knowledge spanning sixty-five thousand years of history.

Major Judged Exhibition 2026

Yurara Art Society’s annual judged exhibition is open to the public from 10am to 4pm across the weekend, showing work across painting, mixed media and collage by member artists.
Redland Art Gallery at Cleveland is closed on Saturdays, so plan a Friday or Sunday visit.
