School holidays begin this weekend, and the Redland Performing Arts Centre opens the break with a percussion and comedy show built from cardboard boxes.

Friday Story Time Fun!

Every Friday the libraries invite children aged 0 – 5 to share stories and pop-up books, explore imaginative play and connect with new friends — no bookings required. This session runs at Capalaba Library, Cleveland Library and Victoria Point Library, all at 9:30 – 10am.

Wiosna – Polish Spring Festival
20 September 2026 | Polish Ex-Servicemen’s Association, Capalaba
Queensland’s largest Polish festival returns for its 29th year with traditional folk dancing, live music, cultural displays, market stalls, children’s activities and Polish food, alongside a collective exhibition by more than 20 Brisbane artists of Polish heritage. Entry is free and the festival runs from 10am to 4pm.

The Box Show by Junkyard Beats
19 September 2026 | RPAC Concert Hall, Cleveland
Junkyard Beats transforms household objects and junk — wheelie bins, kitchen scraps, plastic bags — into percussion instruments in this high-energy school holiday performance combining drumming, dance, theatre and comedy. Ticketed performances at 10am and 1pm ($20–$35; accompanying adult free with child ticket); a free drop-in Musical Garden interactive sound installation runs on the Events Lawn from 9am to 3pm.

Family Picture Hunt – Spring Holiday Scavenger Hunt
18 – 20 September 2026 | Redlands Coast Museum, Cleveland
Families are invited to wander through the Redlands Coast Museum galleries on a playful object-hunt guided by picture clues, uncovering stories behind artefacts along the way. Free entry for children; adult general entry applies ($12 adult, $8 concession). Weekdays 10am–2pm, weekends 9am–1pm.

Digger Door Scavenger Hunt
18 – 20 September 2026 | Redlands Coast Museum, Cleveland
Hidden throughout the museum are eight handcrafted wooden Digger Doors featuring diggers, trucks and construction machinery with interactive moving compartments, each concealing a different native Australian animal wearing a hard hat. Search high and low to find them all — general admission applies; children under 14 enter free. Open Monday – Friday 10am – 3:30pm, Saturday – Sunday 9am – 1pm (last entry 30 minutes before close).

Saturday Story Time
19 September 2026 | Cleveland Library, Cleveland
Come to the library for a fun-filled morning of storytelling and craft for ages 0 – 8, running 9:30 – 10:15am. Free, no bookings required; children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or carer.

The Box Show – Musical Garden
19 September 2026 | Redland Performing Arts Centre – Events Hall Lawn, Cleveland
Running 9am – 3pm on the RPAC lawn, the Musical Garden is a free, drop-in outdoor sound installation where everyday objects become instruments — playful, collaborative and open to all ages. This is separate from the ticketed Box Show concert hall performances running the same day.

Twilight Makers Market
19 September 2026 | Raby Bay Harbour Park, Cleveland
Over 60 handmade and creative stalls, food trucks and live music set against the Raby Bay Harbour from 4 – 8pm. Bring a picnic blanket and the whole family — the market is also dog-friendly.

FISHO: Cast Your Line Drop-In Art Game

Spin the Drawing Wheel to land on a surprise prompt, then add your element — creature, texture, shape or environment — to an evolving artwork, running 9am – 2pm. A free drop-in school holiday activity for all ages, with materials supplied; parents and carers must remain with children throughout.

Junior Wello Wildcats Lawn Bowls
18 September 2026 | Wellington Point Bowls Club, Wellington Point
The Junior Wello Wildcats training squad welcomes primary and secondary school students to a free, non-contact afternoon of lawn bowls from 3:30 – 4:30pm, with all equipment supplied and accredited coaches on hand.
School holiday sessions at the performing arts centre book out quickly, so secure seats in advance.
