Weekend of 9 – 11 October 2026
Grass Roots Bull Riding comes to the Pinklands Sporting Complex this weekend, alongside library story times and a family movie, the Digger Doors trail at Redlands Coast Museum, a pre-loved market at the Cleveland Showgrounds and a pottery wheel taster in Cleveland.

Friday Story Time Fun! – Capalaba Library

Stories, pop-up books and imaginative play for children aged zero to five from 9.30am to 10am. No bookings required; children must be accompanied by a parent or carer.
Saturday Story Time

Digger Doors
9 – 11 October 2026 | Redlands Coast Museum, Cleveland
Eight handcrafted Digger Doors are hidden throughout the museum, each concealing a native Australian animal in a construction hard hat. Children under 14 enter free; adult general admission applies. Open 10am to 3.30pm daily.
The Great Clay Throw: A Pottery Wheel Taster

A two-hour introductory pottery wheel class for up to five people at a time, with three sessions available: 9am, 11.45am and 2.30pm. No experience required.
Redlands Seniors Expo

The Redlands Seniors Network presents a free community event from 9am to 2pm celebrating positive ageing, with local exhibitor stalls, entertainment, guest speakers and services covering aged care, health and community support.
Pre-Loved Markets

The original Redlands Coast Pre-Loved Markets return to the Cleveland Showgrounds from 9am to 1pm, with locals buying, selling and recycling quality second-hand goods.
Yoga in Nature

An outdoor yoga class among the nursery gardens from 8.30am to 9.30am, suitable for all ages and experience levels. Bring a mat and towel; classes cost $12.
Grass Roots Bull Riding

Professional bull riding returns to the Redlands Rugby League Grounds with live music, mechanical bulls, face painting, line dancing, food trucks and a licensed bar from 1pm.
Saturday Family Movie: My Freaky Family (PG)

The library screens the family adventure film My Freaky Family (PG), in which budding musician Betty Flood uncovers the magical truth about her family on the eve of her 13th birthday. Screening runs 10.30am to noon.
Wellbeing On Point Community Event
10 October 2026 | On Point Precinct Atrium, Wellington Point
Florens Psychology & Wellbeing and a group of local health and community businesses host a free family-friendly morning celebrating connection on World Mental Health Day, with a Wellbeing Trail through the On Point atrium from 9am to noon.
Many sessions are free but some require booking, so check the event page before setting out.

The school holidays wound up with library craft and story sessions, museum trails and gallery drawing games, while the Island Storytellers Festival brought a teddy bears’ picnic and an island-hopping ferry trip to Lamb Island.

Halloween Putt Putt
2 – 4 October 2026 | The Alexandra Hills Hotel, Alexandra Hills
The hotel’s mini golf course becomes a Halloween pop-up with 12 themed greens, skeletons, cobwebs and spooky soundscapes. Children under three play free with a paying adult.
Make Your Own Transport Badge

School Holiday Craft Craze

Redland City Libraries opens its treasure box of art materials for a free, no-rules drop-in craft session for kids aged six and up. Sessions also run at Capalaba and Victoria Point libraries on the same day.
FISHO: Cast Your Line Drawing Game

Spin the gallery’s drawing wheel for surprise prompts and build a one-of-a-kind artwork inspired by Jack Rodgers’ fishing-themed exhibition. A free drop-in activity for all ages; children must be supervised.

Explore the Bay Islands on MV Kurrowera

Island Storytellers Festival visitors can island-hop between Lamb Island, Coochiemudlo and Dunwich by ferry without returning to the mainland, with local historians giving talks on board. Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 concession.
Teddy Bear's Picnic Storytime

Bring a picnic and a favourite teddy to the Island Storytellers Festival for First Nations stories, songs and fun with Aunty Lola and Uncle Which Way, after a Welcome to Country at 11.30am. Best suited to children up to 12.
Barefoot Bush Dance @ Straddie
3 October 2026 | Point Lookout Bowls Club, Point Lookout
Boot N Scoot Bush Dancing gets everyone dancing barefoot on the bowling green, with a family bush dance from 5pm, live music from Strawberry Jam and the main dance to the Good Tunes Band from 7pm. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for children and $40 for a family.
School Holiday Clay Creations
